SCULPTED SLIDING DOOR

This commission is an 8 foot high sliding door for a client in San Francisco.  The door is framed in Black Walnut and on both sides of the door panel is an improvised Redwood relief sculpture.

STONES THROW

For my latest project I was asked to design and build an entire bar for a restaurant on Russian Hill called Stones Throw.  This entailed creating the bar-back shelving, bar and bar face, as well as a small island bar table.  Almost all of the wood used is reclaimed vertical grain Douglass Fir floor boards from an old pipe organ factory in San Francisco. All metal work was fabricated by Sam Derouin of Axial to Terminal.  Finishing work is credited to Steve Bauer of Baumar Custom Finishing.

REDWOOD AND STEEL OUTDOOR SEATING AT THE PRESIDIO SOCIAL CLUB

Commissioned by Ray Tang, owner of the Presidio Social Club, I was hired to design and build fifty linear feet of bench seating to enclose the restaurant's outdoor patio area.  The project involved working with some beautiful old growth redwood sourced from Evan Shively and metalwork custom fabricated by Lawrence LaBianca.

SHAKER INSPIRED SHELVES AND DESK

This commission was intended as a matching pair - a desk wih drawer and hanging shelves above.  Both pieces were built from Walnut and designed specificially for my client's guest bed room.  The book shelf was a particularly exciting piece for me, as it was inspired directly from a set of Shaker hanging shelves, which were traditionally hung by a rope from pegs in the wall.  In my interpretation, I used a live-edge piece of Walnut sap-wood, mounted on to the wall, as the support for the shelves.  The desk below also relates with a sap-wood drawer front.

IN FIORE PARFUMERIE

In Fiore owner, Julie Elliot, commissioned me to help design and build a twelve foot wide vitrine for her elegant parfumerie.  The piece was inspired by Japanese shoji screens and the rich, dark colors of the claro and black walnut.  Small Trade Company owner, Matt Dick, also played a significant role in designing the space, and Mimi Giboin is credited for the photography.  In addition to the vitrine, I also built a display base and ottoman joined together with hand-cut finger joints.

TABLE AND SHELVING FOR SMALL TRADE COMPANY

Reclaimed Douglas Fir flooring joists were used to make these open shelves and display table at Matt Dick's studio in the Mission.

CHARLOTTE PERRIAND STOOL

My newest creation is a reproduction of a 1950's French chalet stool designed by Charlotte Perriand, the famous French modernist.  All the douglass fir used to make the stools came from the floor joists of San Francisco's only pipe organ factory located in the Mission.
